Four things that prevent the calls we see most on cooktops.

Dry the burner caps after cleaning A damp cap is the most common reason a gas burner clicks and will not catch. Give it ten minutes.
Keep the igniter port clear A toothpick, gently, once in a while. Not a wire, and never while the gas is on.
Use flat magnetic pans on induction Warped bases and aluminium pans produce errors that look like faults.
Lift cast iron, do not slide it One dragged skillet is all it takes to score or crack a glass top.
